Kristy Hettinga was born in Twin Falls Idaho and lived on a dairy farm as a small child.
This is where she became a lover of all animals. Growing up in Southern California she would often bring home animals ranging from dogs to cats, birds and ever a turtle or two. Her family always had family dogs, so naturally Kristy got her first pet soon after joining the real world.
In 2001 she fell in love with a Boxer who she named Brodie. He lived his 15 years by her side and helped her through the ups and downs of life while being her constant companion. The two of them moved together from Savannah Georgia to California, Phoenix, and then Texas back to Georgia and back to Arizona again. Partial to Bully breeds she also had 2 English Bulldogs, Bain and Roxo, along with a rescued Chihuahua mix found roaming the streets in Phoenix. Through the years she has lived with cow dogs, Pitbull’s, Mastiffs, Labs and Cocker Spaniels to name a few.
Kristy moved to Florida over 3 years ago to be closer to her brother. She’s happy to be surrounded by great friends in Florida and considers this to be home. She is very excited to be part of the Sam Ivy team and saw instant comradery between all the trainers who welcomed her right away. She is looking forward to growing with the team and takes joy in knowing that she can assist clients with information and help them take the first step towards a happier life with their loved pets. She feels a house is not truly a home without a dog.
