"Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Erica moved to Dunedin, Florida in 2014, where she currently resides. After moving to Florida, her dog, Max, came into her life and changed everything.
Erica graduated from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania in 2014 with a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Therapy. She is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, and has worked with various populations such as behavioral health, dementia care, and adults with intellectual disabilities. She has always believed that dogs have amazing capabilities, and was able to see it in action through the years by working with many individuals with disabilities who had service dogs. Erica strongly advocated the therapeutic benefits of dogs while working as a recreation therapist, and developed volunteer programs where therapy dogs regularly visited several of the hospitals and communities she has worked at. Working closely with the volunteers and dogs made her realize that she wanted to pursue a career in training dogs, because she was able to see first hand the impact that dogs can have on our lives, they just need the proper guidance and tools to succeed.
Working at Sam Ivy has allowed Erica to make a difference in people's lives, and to help them discover their dog's true potential. Her favorite part of training is seeing her clients' confidence grow and their stress and worry melt away as they progress, knowing that they are building a strong and special bond with their dog."
