For most dog owners, off-leash reliability is the dream: a dog that consistently listens and follows commands even with the freedom of being off-leash. To get there, a solid foundation is essential. You can’t start running without walking first.
That is why you and your dog first go through Proper Pack Behavior to establish the respect and trust that any obedience training needs. Before you can let your dog off the leash, even inside the home, you have to be sure he knows all the ground rules and respects the boundaries you set.
A well-trained dog off-leash will not

- Get up from his spot and wander around the house without being released

At the beginning, the leash is an absolute must, even inside the house, because it is the tool that lets you take control and communicate what is expected. We build a solid on-leash foundation first so your dog truly understands the commands and hand signals, then take the training off-leash gradually. In the end you have an exceptionally well-trained dog that will be the envy of your friends and neighbors.
